Recipe for Portuguese Pork Spare Ribs. Pork is one of the most traditional meats that we enjoy in Portuguese cuisine, and this dish is probably the most delicious of them all. Not for the faint of heart, this dish is totally rich in flavor and texture, and because it is really is just so good, we don’t care who knows it. The dish itself is pretty simple to make and many of the ingredients should be pretty easy to find in most kitchens.
Ingredients:
4 lbs. of pork spare ribs
¾ cup of ketchup
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
½ cup of butter
½ cup of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of French mustard
1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
Tabasco sauce
Directions:
1) Place the spareribs in an ovenproof dish, cut them into portion size and add salt.
2) In a different saucepan heat the rest of the ingredients until the brown sugar
dissolves and the mixture is an even consistency, stir the sauce and then pour it over the spareribs in the dish.
3) Cover the dish and bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
4) Uncover and continue baking for 1 hour, basting every 20 minutes.
5) Once done you can slightly brown the spareribs on a grill or in a broiler.
6) Serve and enjoy!
