Rissois are a very traditional Portuguese deep fried dish like a croquette which are made with various types of filling typically with some sort of meat. This dish is not necessarily the simplest to make but it is guaranteed to be totally delicious. Our recipe here can be used to make rissois with either beef or shrimp, but you could also substitute something like cod fish just in the same.

This recipe is a quick and easy take on the Portuguese steak (Bitoque). Portuguese steak is usually thin, quick to cook and filled with spicy flavor. You can add a spicy red pepper if you really want it hot and spicy or you can fry an egg and place it on top of the steak when you serve it. Usual sides are fresh cut french fries, rice or salad.
Prego no Pão has been the most popular and widely eaten sandwich in Portuguese cuisine for many years. This is not just because it is an easy sandwich to make on the go but because it is also so delicious. The combination of cooking the garlic with the steak adds unbelievable popping smell and flavor. Despite how many times I have eaten this sandwich, I find it impossible to get sick of because it is just so good.
