Macau Crab Congee (Canja de Caranguejo) (蟹粥)

Crab Congee is a delicious and popular soup from the region of Macau. This soup is very similar to the Portuguese Canja soup and the word congee is related to the Portuguese word canja as the two have the same origin, stemming from the strong Portuguese influence in the region since the 16th century. The cultural cuisine of both the Cantonese and Portuguese both derive from flavor and effectiveness in simplicity which is what makes both styles of cooking so great. Polvo Guisado (Boiled Octopus)

This is a simple and easy way to make Portuguese Polvo Guisado, or boiled octopus. This is one of the more unique and traditional dishes in Portuguese cuisine, and in my opinion one of the most interesting and delicious dishes Portuguese cuisine has to offer. The combination of flavors between the octopus and the red wine allow for a succulent taste which can only be described by experiencing it for yourself. While the ingredients are very simple the preparation is of utmost importance in making this dish well, so closely follow the directions. Arroz com Marisco

Arroz com Marisco is a signature Portuguese seafood and rice dish combining mussels, prawns, and clams. Arroz com Marisco utilizes many typical Portuguese ingredients to create an intensely flavorful seafood dish. It is like Spanish paella but a bit more like a stew, as it isn’t completely reduced like paella. The rice also has a sticky texture similar to an Italian risotto.

Beef and Shrimp Rissois (Portuguese Croquettes)

Rissois are a very traditional Portuguese deep fried dish like a croquette which are made with various types of filling typically with some sort of meat. This dish is not necessarily the simplest to make but it is guaranteed to be totally delicious. Our recipe here can be used to make rissois with either beef or shrimp, but you could also substitute something like cod fish just in the same.
