Pudim de Chocolate is a Portuguese Chocolate Flan that is a decadent dessert that is full of chocolate flavor and the right amount of sweetness. It is based off of a simple and easy to make flan that can be made quickly without a fuss. It has the perfect combination of sweet chocolate and carob powder flavor in a light flan texture.
Ingredients:
1 14 oz can sweet condensed milk
1.5 cups milk
3 eggs
1/2 cup chocolate
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
1 tablespoon carob powder (If you have trouble finding carob powder locally, you can buy some here on Amazon)
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup water
Directions:
1) Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
1) In a saucepan, add the chocolate and milk to melt the chocolate on medium heat. Warm it and mix until it is an even consistency.
2) Beat the eggs together in a bowl and add them to the saucepan, along with the condensed milk, cocoa powder, and carob powder.
3) Let it cook for 3-4 minutes and keep mixing. Turn off the heat and pour it into a bowl and set aside.
4) In another saucepan, add 1/4 cup water along with the sugar and cook until it is a sugar syrup.
5) Once it is a sugar syrup, line the flan baking bold with the syrup.
6) Now add the mixture that was set aside and fill the mold.
7) Bake in the the oven in a water bath, for 30 to 35 minutes.
8) Take it out of the oven and place in the refrigerator for an hour to cool.
9) Once cooled, take out of the refrigerator and remove the flan from the mold. Serve.
