Portuguese Milk Tea (Chá com Leite)

Chá, or tea in Portuguese, is typically the drink of choice in Portugal, and has been since it was first introduced to Portuguese priests and merchants in China during the 16th century. Portuguese Milk Tea is a rather popular and traditional way of enjoying the tea with some extra flavor and scent. Either using green or black tea, Chá com Leite is very healthy with all of these great ingredients including cinnamon, nutmeg, and honey, so go ahead and try it out and tell us what you think of this awesome drink.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons honey
1 Portuguese green or black tea bag (if you can’t find some locally, you can buy it here on Amazon)

Directions:
1) Start making the green or black tea.
2) Heat the milk, honey, nutmeg and cinnamon in a small saucepan on medium heat.
3) Once the mixture has reached an even consistency, add it to the tea in a cup.
4) Serve and enjoy!

  2. This was so good! But I didn’t use honey because I found that a bit sour, and I made use of Twinning’s English Breakfast.
